MASSAGE
allows your body to recover
Massage at Healing Ways
Whether you have run that extra mile, hit the gym too hard or just need to unwind, massage is a great way to help your body recover.
I specialise in:
WOF - Yes a warrant of fitness!
Book a whole body or specific area massage such as legs to establish just where those nasty wee tender spots are.
Tight back, neck and shoulders.
Runners legs ( a local phenomenon on the Pohutukawa Coast!) from 5 km start-ups to elite ultra-marathoners those legs need some TLC.
Teens - Elite sports (Football, Touch, Rugby, Netball, Dance, Swimming)
Child / Teen growing pains
You can book for 45, 60 or 75 minute massages. Pressure is usually firm and aims more at therapeutic than full relaxation style.
♡ My approach
All my treatments come with respect and non judgement, working with your own expectations. A key aim is to empower you with the ability to improve your personal lifestyle. I sometimes collaborate with local Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors to ensure you are getting the best suited treatment for your needs.
Different types of massages
Therapeutic Massage
(Traditional Swedish)
From targeted areas to a full body massage this style has been designed to gain relaxation for your body, mind and spirit. This treatment is perfect for relieving the stress of modern busy life, leaving you feeling deeply relaxed and indulged.
With carefully applied pressure to stimulate the nervous system with Swedish Massage and neuromuscular techniques, the aim is to relieve muscular tension and encourage healthy circulation.
Therapeutic massage is an effective treatment for reducing stress and anxiety, pain and muscle tension and enhancing relaxation.
Sports Massage
(Deep Tissue Massage)
Beloinging to a sporty family and coming from a sporting background myself helps my understanding and being able to relate to muscle groups applied to various sports.
Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic massage effective for muscular tension, assists with repair after injury, relieves trapped nerves and muscular pain from repetitive actions.
Deep pressure is applied using thumbs, forearms and elbows helping to stretch out muscles that are shortened and tense. Whether you have overdone it at the gym or worked long hours at a computer, this treatment will help free up your body and improve flexibility.
I WANT IT ALL
The Works
Some people just want it all or simply cannot decide! SOLUTION! Book it all! Allow at least 75 minutes and you can get a worthy sample of reflexology, massage and colour therapy. (It can be squeezed into 60 minutes if you are short of time or cash flow). The treatment can be tailored on the day to just two or three therapy styles. Book The Works for a Full Holistic Approach provided at Healing Ways from 75 minutes to a full 2 hour session.
“I have been working alongside Karen Philipsen Brown in a professional capacity since 2014.
I am a musculoskeletal physiotherapist and am a strong advocate for the use of massage therapy to aid injury recovery. I have regularly sent clients to Karen for sports massage and they have all had excellent results. Karen has a good anatomical knowledge and provides a depth of massage relative to the patient’s injury and pain tolerance. This is a skill that only comes with experience.
Karen also has skills in reflexology, restorative massage, colour therapy and mindfulness. I also send clients to her who have an emotional and stress-related aspect to their pain, as Karen is brilliant for these types of problems. I cannot recommend Karen highly enough as someone to see on a regular basis to keep your body, mind and soul healthy!”
